Brand Book: Outspoken

I immersed myself in the brand by interviewing 16 key figures—founders, team riders, and contributors—to uncover the stories and milestones that shaped Mystic. The result: a timeless book that chronicles the brand’s journey from its early days and groundbreaking products to global photoshoots and world-class athletes. More than just a history, it became the heart of Mystic’s anniversary campaign—a celebration of legacy and a source of inspiration for the next generation of riders (and a pleasure to flip through on the coffee table).

Video Script

Writing ‘Outspoken’ taught me that a brand is shaped by both what happens on stage and BTS, and it’s usually the latter that creates a deeper connection with the audience. Translating that into a three-minute video meant distilling those moments into something polished yet powerful.

Visually, that was easy—certain action sports clips, especially the raw power of the ocean, just turn heads. The script, however, needed to amplify the emotion, reinforce the brand’s identity, and make an impact. I took a rhythmic, poetic approach, developing a celebratory ‘Here’s to’ motif that tied it all together—acknowledging wins and losses, the passage of time, and the human desire to grow and learn—all while nodding to Mystic’s past, present, and future.

One of the most rewarding projects I had the opportunity to work on was Mystic’s 20th-anniversary campaign, a celebration of two decades of watersports innovation, culture, and community. The project spanned a coffee table book and video designed to reflect Mystic’s legacy and inspire the next chapter of its story.
